Character type in a layout

To every character in a GN4 font layout you have to assign a type, otherwise it will be considered as undefined and as such cannot be used.

Following character types are available in GN4 font layouts:

Uppercase

u

Use it for all uppercase characters

Lowercase

l

Use it for all lowercase characters

Top accent

a

top accent. can be added as floating accent if you type it after a character in a font where accented characters are not available

Bottom accent

ad

typically a 'cedilla'. it can be added as floating accent if you type it after a character

Uppercase descender

ud

typically, the letter Q

Lowercase descender

ld

typically, the letters p,j,q, fractions and similar
