Excluding folders from replication

It is worthwhile to reduce the number of folders to replicate by excluding from the frequent replication.

The folders that are supposed to be “archive”, i.e. those in the dedicated volumes, as the archive content changes rarely.

The folders of the pagePreview data. These are changing often, but they are generated on the fly as a page preview is called, so it is useless and time consuming to copy them.

The folders containing almost fixed data, such as fonts, dictionaries etc.

This will minimize the sync time.

The above folders can be eventually synced once a day or even  less frequency, using another batch.

Note

The above assumes the DR system is accessible via shared folders, i.e. that is is in the same network subnet, which may not be true. other scenario where a VNP is not possible may use ftp to sync files, that can be tricky.
