The smart copy and paste is available in version 2.3 or newer. CTRL+right-click on the shapes, selected on a page, executes a smart action. There are four cases: 1.You selected all the shapes of a linked article, so Fred4 prompts you to: a.Copy/duplicate "article as content" (which means on the same page you will have two identical articles). Click Yes for this option. Fred4 then prompts for the name and the folder of the duplicated article. Click OK to create a copy. The marquee for the shape of the new article appears on the page. Click where you want to place it. Note: the new article uses the same image(s) as the original article. b.Copy/duplicate "articles as shapes" (which means you will have a copy of the article layout with image placeholders instead of images). Click No for this option. The marquee for the shape of the new article appears on the page. Click where you want to place it. c.Abort the copy. Click Cancel for this option. 2.You selected just some shapes of a linked article, it adds them to the logical group of the current article layout and links them. 3.You selected an unlinked article layout, with all its shapes. Fred4 creates a duplicate as a new logical group. The marquee for the shape of the new article layout appears on the page. Click where you want to place it. The frames won't be linked. 4.You selected only parts of an unlinked article layout. Fred4 adds the new shapes to the same logical group. This functionality is enabled by default. |
When you copy and paste an object between pages, if you use the standard paste, it is automatically placed on the same position as on the source page. If you want to paste floating between pages, use the EditPasteEx command. When you copy on clipboard a frame with local text, the content is copied too. But, when you copy a frame with linked story, the content is not copied - the pasted frame will be linked to the same text.. Copying and pasting a linked image does not duplicate the image, but adds another link to it. Anyway, if you crop or scale such image, only that instance is changed - all other instances of the same image are unaffected. |
