Add/modify a page dateline to a master
1.In case you need to modify or create a dateline from scratch, on the Pages main tab, if a page is opened, right-click it while nothing is selected on the page.
2.Select Open master. Alternatively, on the Masters navigator of the Pages main tab, double-click a master page to open it.
3.Add the required frames for dateline elements, and then insert them. Find available dateline markers on the Type menu > Insert Special Character > Markers.
Important: dateline markers do not appear in the source pane if the tags are not displayed. Press ALT+F9 to review the inserted markers.
Add the page number block
1.Add a frame typically on the left edge of the dateline zone for the even pages, and on the right edge on the odd pages.
2.Ensure that the frame is wide enough for the largest page number.
3.Edit the text in frame and then select Current Page Number. Press SHIFT+CTRL+R to align it right on the odd pages frame.
Add the edition date block
1.Add a frame for an edition date block, typically on the opposite side of the dateline zone in respect of the page number block.
2.Ensure that the frame is wide enough for the largest edition date.
3.Edit the text in frame and then select the appropriate option for edition day, day of week, month, year and edition number name.
Add the page section name block
1.Add a frame for page section name block, typically horizontally centered in the dateline zone.
2.Ensure that the frame is wide enough for the largest section name.
3.Edit the text in frame and then select the Page Section Name.
Notes
•Dateline elements are local texts. Format them as you would do with any other text element.
•When inserting edition date block, have in mind that the date, while editing it on the master page will temporarily be the current date, and only when you save and close the master page and switch back to the content page, it will turn to the edition date.
•When inserting page section name block, have in mind that, while editing it on the master page, it will temporarily be empty, and only when you save and close the master page and switch back to the content page, it will turn to the section name - for pages that are assigned to a section, otherwise, it will show as "-".
•If you created an edition from a template, there’s no need to do anything, as it’s already set-up on the master pages of the template.
