The naming convention of editions is configurable on the level of a title. You may want to change them if not satisfied with the system default names.
The changes affect .descName and .shortName of the edition object, independently for the real editions and edition templates.
To change names, edit the related title.
Note: as the system needs to recompute the changed data, it may take longer than expected on databases with many pages. Moreover, the users may need to restart the applications to see the changed names.
To edit a title
In EdAdmin4
1.Run EdAdmin4, and then in the Editorial Objects section, click Titles.
2.Select a title in the listing, and then on the Action menu, click Edit.
In browser
1.Run Administrative Browser, and then on the Home page, click Titles.
2.Select a title in the listing, and then click Edit.
To edit the edition descName
On the Edition names tab, enter a suitable XML in Edition desc name.
To edit the edition shortName
On the Edition names tab, enter a suitable XML in Edition short name.
Note: the short name of edition appears on many places, have this in mind when changing it. The non exhaustive list includes: page label on the Pages main tab, edition tree on the Edition navigator on the Shell main tab, edition listing on the Editions main tab. If the short name of edition is long, there might be not enough place to display the entire name in various places.
To return to the default name
Simply delete all content of the field you want to restore the default value to.
About "suitable XML"
The syntax of XML you can type in the previously mentioned fields is explained in Editorial objects names. Look in the Editions paragraph for the available variables and syntax.
