When you add pages to an edition, such pages are normally physical pages. A physical page has a section, zone, workstate, page dateline and number.

There's another page type, ie. logical pages.

A physical page becomes a logical page if the imported edition/ad plan removed it from the edition, but it contains some editorial content. Converting a physical page to a logical page allows for the editing coherency and content maintaining also in such special cases.
