The best practice for an efficient APM is to use the formats instead of styles for the single-formatted article content.
On the following screenshot, the headline is formatted by a style, but as it is a single-formatted line, it is better to create a format for such headline and use its defaults
Review all the articles on the page and make a list of all the elements that can be formatted by a format alone.
Note: certain parts of content would still need the styles. This applies mostly to multi-line content such as bylines, or to crossheads or to insertion of inline images and similar. The most of the plain text is preferably formatted by format defaults and not by styles. This simplifies the formatting replacement during APM operations and increases the formatting speed.
