GN4 Tracking uses workstates to determine the status of completeness on an element. Workstates for articles and images change as elements move through the folders (baskets). For example, a story moves from Private, through Pool to Edit, and then through Subs to Page. Each folder has a workstate associated, and each workstate has a color. Thus, elements change colors.

Assuming a traffic light paradigm (red means unfinished, yellow is 50%, green means 100% complete), while refreshing the tracking layout in regular intervals, you will see how more and more articles and images become green.
