In GN4, ads are considered as images. Thus, all properties and functions that apply to images. also apply to ads (e.g., positioning, scaling, printing, rotations, cropping, etc.). If extra information about an ad - such as guaranteed position - have been imported into the GN4 database, it is visible in the metadata display. You can lock an ad so that unauthorized users cannot modify it. It is not possible to allow only movements but not other manipulations (cropping or resizing for example).

Automatically imported ads and manually placed ads (and relative rules) can be distinguished by placing them on ads layer. Usually the layer filled by automatic import will be locked, so only users with the required lock level will be able to modify it. Ads layer will have separate type, e.g. advertisement. Use the Fred4 to mark page layers as advertisement.

Automatically imported missing ads are visible on the page as dummies, i.e., empty images.

It is possible to create libraries of house ads, either as library objects or by putting all of the house ads in a specific image folder. It is also possible to write scripts that automatically insert specific house ads in order to fill unused positions.

Ad positions are accessible in the GN4 database, and can be exported back to the advertising front-end (or, the advertising front-end can directly access the GN4 database). It is possible to distinguish in the database automatically placed ads, manually placed ads, and house ads by the layer they are on, and/or the folder in which they reside.

It is possible to vertically justify classified ads using the alignment functions. It is also possible to write scripts to automatically generate rules around ads.

The fact that a color ad with a black and white preview is actually color is visible in the dialog listing the contents of the page.

Assuming that the classified pagination system produces image files of the complete or partial classified ad pages, they can be placed onto GN4 pages in the same way as display ads (or any other image). Display ads can be distinguished from classified blocks by the folder they are in. Classified blocks can have any shape - provided that a clipping path is included in the generated EPS file(s). Complete pages of classified ads can be imported and placed into the correct position by automatic server processes.
