From time to time you can receive an error message like this in Event Viewer:

EmailWatcher: 'Email Generic' has been disabled

That's because Back4 automatically disables the polling if the login fails for any reason. This is to prevent many retries that could lock the account.

Restarting Back4 it will force it to try again.

It does not depends from any other kind of error and it's not configurable.
